Michael McMonagle failed to turn up to a court hearing
A District Judge has issued an arrest warrant for a former senior member of Sinn Fein's press team who failed to appear at the Magistrate's Court in Derry to answer three charges of child sex abuse.
The defendant, who worked in the party's Stormont, Westminster and Strasbourg offices, joined Sinn Fein as a press officer in 2014 having worked as a reporter for the Derry Journal for the previous ten years. The defendant, 41, failed to appear before the city's Bishop Street Magistrate's Court after he'd been charged with attempting, for the purpose of sexual gratification, to sexually communicate with a child under the age of sixteen.
