Arrest made in SR-94 shooting that killed National City woman [Breaking]
A La Mesa man was arrested on suspicion of murder Saturday, two weeks after the California Highway Patrol says he fatally shot a driver on state Route 94 in Spring Valley.
The CHP and Sheriff’s Department arrested Thomas Evans III, 47, at his home after serving a search warrant there Saturday morning, said CHP spokesman Jake Sanchez. During the arrest, investigators recovered what they believe to be the weapon used in the shooting, officials said. Victim Saundralina Williams, 27, had been driving west on the freeway, approaching Kenwood Drive, early the morning of March 5 when another vehicle approached from behind and an occupant fired several rounds at her Ford Edge, the CHP said. She was struck by a round and later died.Authorities did not reveal a potential motive for the killing or say whether the victim and suspect knew each other.
