Law enforcement sources tell NBC News that at least one person has been arrested in connection to the investigation into the death of “Friends” star Matthew Perry, who died in October 2023. NBC’s Chloe Melas reports for TODAY.
An arrest has been made in connection with Matthew Perry's overdose death in 2023, law enforcement sources confirmed to NBC News on Thursday. Perry, 54, was found unresponsive in a jacuzzi at his home in Pacific Palisades, California, on Oct. 28, 2023. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office said in December 2023 the 'Friends' star died of acute affects of ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic that has some hallucinogenic effects.
The Los Angeles Police Department told NBC News in May it was working with the Drug Enforcement Administration to review Perry’s case, and said the source of the ketamine was part of an “open investigation.” The DEA declined further comment to NBC News at the time.
