The Amherst man accused of driving drunk and hitting a 65-year-old woman and her dog, will be arraigned Monday afternoon in Oberlin Municipal Court.

AMHERST , Ohio - The Amherst man accused of driving drunk and hitting a 65-year-old woman and her dog, will be arraigned Monday afternoon in Oberlin Municipal Court. Amherst police said the woman suffered serious injuries and remains hospitalized and her dog was killed.

Sean Bankston, 34, of Amherst, is charged with operating a vehicle under the influence , OVI refusal, aggravated vehicular assault, and reckless operation of a motor vehicle. The crash happened at 3:06 p.m. on Dec. 20 near the intersection of Rome Beauty Drive and North Quarry Road. Officers said Bankston was driving northbound on North Quarry when he struck the victim and her dog, who were walking along the roadway. According to neighbors, the woman who was hit was thrown about 20 feet and was rushed to University Hospital Elyria Medical Center for treatment.A man who lives near the victim, only wanted to be identified as Jim, tells 19 News, “We were told she has a fractured skull and brain bleed.
