Around 200 indigenous peoples (IPs) have been rescued in Metro Manila, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Tuesday.

During the public briefing, DSWD Undersecretary Edu Punay said more than 60 Badjaos have been returned to the province while 20 families are temporarily residing at the Jose Fabella Center.

Meanwhile, when asked how the agency can ensure that they will no longer return to Metro Manila, Punay said the DSWD is working on giving them birth certificates and identified cards.
