Two new Black Hawks arrive in Australia, which will eventually form part of a 40-strong helicopter fleet to replace the Army's troubled Taipans that remain grounded following last month's crash in Queensland.

abc.net.au/news/new-army-black-hawks-arrive-as-taipan-probe-continues/102695564Two new Black Hawks have arrived in Australia, which will eventually form part of a 40-strong helicopter fleet to replace the Army's troubled Taipans that remain grounded following last month's crash in Queensland.

"The first two of 40 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters for the Australian Army arrived at RAAF Base Richmond Sunday 30 July via US Air Force C-17, as scheduled," a spokesperson for Defence Minister Richard Marles said. "But it is both a question of having the airframes come to Australia, but also a question of making sure that all the appropriate training and credentialling is done for those who operate the Black Hawks, so that that can be done in a safe way."

Investigations into last month's loss of an Army MRH-90 in the Whitsundays with four aircrew on board are continuing, while the rest of the Army's European-made helicopters remain grounded.
