An 18-year-old aspiring Navy recruit was fatally shot in the Bronx on his way home from a party. He was just hours away from his final interview with the U.S. Navy when the tragedy occurred. Police say he was shot multiple times around 1:30 a.m. after a black vehicle stopped near him, words were exchanged, and then gunfire erupted. Investigators are still working to determine a motive, but his family believes it may have been a case of mistaken identity.

"I didn't know he was dead at the time, I didn't know he was dead," sister Anyer Pena said. "I didn't talk to him last night. I went to work. I didn't see him. I didn't see him last night." Police say he was shot multiple times around 1:30 a.m. on the corner of Park and East Tremont avenues. "He doesn't deserve mercy, you don't deserve it, you don't deserve mercy," his sister said. "You're supposed to be in prison right not. You're supposed to be in prison for killing my brother. He's only 18 years old right now."
