The US Army has placed units on prepare-to-deploy orders due to escalating tensions in Minneapolis, Minnesota, following the fatal shooting of a US citizen by an ICE agent and subsequent protests targeting immigration officials. The move comes amid a surge of federal agents sent by former President Trump and potential threats of invoking the Insurrection Act.
The army placed the units on prepare-to-deploy orders in case violence in the northern state escalates, the Washington Post reported, citing unnamed defense officials, adding that it is not clear whether any of them will be sent.
