Major Jeffrey Stockin, a U.S. Army doctor stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, was sentenced to over 13 years in prison for sexually abusing dozens of male soldiers. He was also ordered to forfeit all pay and allowances and dismissed from the Army. The court-martial proceedings saw 22 of the 41 victims testify about the lasting trauma and distress they endured as a result of Stockin's abuse.

A U.S. Army doctor, Major Jeffrey Stockin, was sentenced to over 13 years in prison at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) on Wednesday. He was convicted on 36 specifications of abusive sexual contact and five of indecent viewing, according to Michelle McCaskill, a spokesperson for the U.S. Army Office of Special Trial Counsel. Stockin was also ordered to forfeit all pay and allowances and dismissed from the Army .

The court-martial proceedings saw 22 of the 41 victims testify about the lasting trauma and distress they endured as a result of Stockin's abuse. Many victims described experiencing negative emotional, physical, and psychological harm due to his actions. The prosecution emphasized the resilience of the victims and their courage in coming forward. Lead prosecutor Maj. Ryan Keeter commended their patience, strength, and determination in seeking justice. Stockin's lawyer, Robert Capovilla, stated that his client accepted full responsibility for his actions and expressed hope for healing and moving forward for both the victims and Stockin himself. In addition to the prison sentence, Stockin will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release and will be subject to federal and state sex offender registration requirements. Lawyers representing 22 of Stockin's former patients have filed Federal Tort Claims Act complaints against the Army and Department of Defense, alleging negligence in hiring, supervising, and retaining Stockin. Each complaint seeks $5 million in damages for emotional distress. The victims' lawyers argue that real justice requires holding the Army accountable for its role in allowing this abuse to occur. The Army launched an investigation into Stockin in 2022 following multiple complaints. He was suspended from patient care and assigned administrative duties. Formal charges were filed in August 2023, followed by 52 charges and specifications in January 2024, stemming from allegations by 41 male patients treated between 2019 and 2022. Stockin will be transferred to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, to serve his sentence
