Armed man accused of freeing his impounded car from American Fork tow yard on Feb. 6, 2024. American Fork Police are searching for a man they allege used a gun to break a lock and free his impounded car from a tow yard.
According to a Facebook post by the police, the incident occurred Tuesday night at John’s Towing, located at 74 South 500 East in American Fork. Officers responded to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, police discovered that the front gate was damaged and partially open, a rear window of the business was shattered, and a silver Honda Civic was missing from the tow yard.Authorities suspected that Kevin Ballew, 36, had discharged a 9mm handgun 21 times to shoot the gate's lock and gain entry.The stolen vehicle was described as a 2010 Honda Civic bearing a Florida license plate with the registration HEZN57.
American Fork Police cautioned that Ballew is armed and dangerous. They urged community members to dial 911 if they spotted him or the vehicle. Additionally, anyone with information regarding Ballew's whereabouts was encouraged to contact the police at 801-763-3020 or Central 911 Dispatch at 801-794-3970.
