DURBAN - President Cyril Ramaphosa has hailed the men and women in uniform for their contribution to the social and economic development of South Africa.

Armed Forces Day is held annually on 21 February to commemorate the tragic death of 616 black South African troops when the SS Mendi steamship sank on its way to France in 1917.
