Quentin Walker, 32, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for manslaughter, 30 years for serious bodily injury to a child and 20 years for aggravated assault...

A social worker initially notified police that a child had been brought to the emergency room, but his injuries did not match the story given to medical staff.

In an arrest-warrant affidavit, Walker told police he was walking with the child in a grassy area at an Arlington apartment complex while the child’s mother stayed in a car nearby. He noticed at one point that Ross was no longer beside him, but was on the ground trying to get up.The three drove to a Walmart to buy drinks, police wrote in the affidavit. The mother went into the store and left Walker and her child in the car. When she returned, Walker handed water to Ross in the back seat.

When Ross started vomiting, Walker drove to the hospital, the affidavit said. Ross died in the emergency department at the hospital that evening. Police said in the affidavit that Walker was the only person alone with when Ross before he started experiencing symptoms.
