A major winter storm is rolling through the state, causing power outages and road closures in the high country due to 'treacherous' conditions. Get the latest updates here:
There will be several factors at play during this storm: damaging winds, colder temperatures, and rain/snow. As a result, the entire state will be battling difficult weather, especially Wednesday morning through early afternoon.Gusts will peak 40-50 mph across the Valley. Along the foothills and mountains north and east of the Valley, gusts may reach over 60 mph. Along the High Country, damaging winds are likely. Gusts 60-70+ mph are forecast. Some brief bursts of gusts over 70 mph are possible.
Additional snow is expected with lingering snow showers Thursday and Friday, too. The heaviest snow Wednesday will fall in the morning. Conditions should turn more scattered and a bit lighter in the afternoon and evening. A Winter Storm Warning is in place for most areas in Northern Arizona Wednesday.
