Four rescue pups from Arizona are set to compete in this year's Puppy Bowl, hoping to find loving forever homes and showcase the joy of adopting rescue dogs.
Four adorable puppies from Arizona are set to take center stage in this year's Puppy Bowl , the beloved annual event that celebrates rescue dogs while helping them find loving forever homes. These furry competitors hail from the Arizona Humane Society, Desert Harbor Doberman Rescue, and a trailblazing organization known as the Nagi Foundation , which made history last year as the first Native American -led group to be featured in the event.
'It's absolutely thrilling! Not many get to be a part of this, so it's an incredible honor to be on such a big platform,' shared Christy Cole, representing Desert Harbor Doberman Rescue. Puppy Bowl referee Dan Schachner emphasizes that the game is about more than just the cuteness factor. 'It's a small football game with a giant heart—142 pups scoring touchdowns, getting penalties, and a captivating kitty halftime show. And by the end, we hope they'll all find their forever homes!'One of the Arizona pups, Akimel, comes from the Nagi Foundation. 'We specialize in animal-assisted behavioral health and medical care, working exclusively on tribal lands, including the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community—where Akimel originated,' explained Sheila Iyengar, representing the Nagi Foundation. Rescue advocates hope the Puppy Bowl inspires a wave of adoptions and raises awareness about the diverse range of dogs waiting for homes in shelters and rescues nationwide, including purebreds. 'You can find every kind of dog imaginable in a rescue,' Cole asserted. 'They all have unique personalities and so much love to give!' While these Puppy Bowl stars have already been adopted, Arizona shelters are brimming with lovable pups still searching for their forever families. If you're considering welcoming a furry friend into your home, now is the perfect time to adopt or explore resources for raising a well-behaved pup
