Arizona's 2026 primary election is scheduled for July 21, a date shifted from August to allow sufficient time for federal recount deadlines. The primary will determine party nominees for significant statewide positions, including governor and secretary of state, as well as two open congressional seats.
Early voting begins June 24, offering both mail and in-person options. Voters on the Active Early Voting List will receive ballots automatically, while others can request mail ballots online until July 10. A key requirement is signing the green affidavit envelope; a mismatched signature allows five business days for verification via a phone number provided by the voter.
New for 2026, early voters who drop mail ballots at a voting center can bypass signature verification by checking in with valid ID, with those ballots counted on election night. Election Day polling places are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and any voter in line at closing will still vote. Maricopa County voters can use any vote center in their county and track their ballot through a notification system.
