Swim superstar Ariarne Titmus will enforce a self-imposed social media ban to avoid distraction during the Paris Olympics. Titmus will put a finishing touch on her outstanding Olympic selection trials in Brisbane on Friday when racing for fun in the women’s 100m freestyle. Titmus will swim the sprint as Cate Campbell’s mission to compete at a fifth Olympics reaches culmination. No Australian swimmer has competed at five Games but Campbell hopes to earn a 100m freestyle berth.
Campbell and her sister Bronte, who will also swim the event on Friday chasing a fourth Olympic selection, are more likely to earn spots on Australia’s 4x100m freestyle relay team at the Paris Games starting on July 26. Titmus says she’s no chance given she is ranked eighth entering Friday morning heats and treats the sprint as pure fun.
