Arianespace’s Ariane 6 program has been hit by a long string of delays. The rocket was originally intended to fly in 2020.
After a long string of delays, Arianespace’s Ariane 6 is expected to make its debut launch this summer. If all goes to plan, the Ariane 6 will fly a host of missions soon.Plans for a smooth transition from Ariane 5 to Ariane 6 were hindered by multiple delays. Arianespace originally intended to launchThings didn’t go to plan, with technical issues pushing the launch date several times.
The rocket has a big legacy to live up to. Over its entire lifetime, Ariane 5 performed 112 successful launches, one of which sent the James Webb Space Telescope into space. However, the decision to make Ariane 6 a non-reusable rocket was made prior to SpaceX’s great success with Falcon 9. As such, Arianespace won’t compete with SpaceX when it comes to affordability.
If all goes to plan, though, Ariane 6 will be operational soon after its debut launch and it will fly a host of ambitious space mission in the near future.
