Not Project 2025 rearing its ugly head all the way in 2026.

FCC Chair Brendan Carr, Border Czar Tom Homan, and SEC Chair Paul Atkins also contributed to the document, among others in the Trump sphere. Now, a partial government shutdown has slashed funds to pay TSA workers at the airport, and people are connecting the fight over paying these workers back to Project 2025.I had to learn more, so I did some digging. Here's what Project 2025 has to say about the TSA: "The TSA model is costly and unwisely makes TSA both the regulator and the regulated organization responsible for screening operations. As part of an effort to shrink federal bureaucracies and bring private-sector know-how to government programs, TSA is ripe for reform.""The U.S. should look to the Canadian and European private models of providing aviation screening manpower to lower TSA costs while maintaining security. Until it is privatized, TSA should be treated as a national security provider, and its workforce should be deunionized immediately."comes down to a debate between lawmakers. Democrats are pushing for reforms to ICE and Customs and Border Protection after the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.Lawmakers have been unable to reach an agreement, resulting in the Department of Homeland Security currently going unfunded (with the exception of ICE, which is guaranteed funding underAdditionally, Project 2025's changes to the TSA are supposed to reduce government spending. However, the current deployment of ICE agents to select American airports amid the shutdown seems to be costing even more than just paying the TSA, since TSA workers are. To me, it looks like the Trump administration is just creating more chaos and burning money while travelers continue to wait in hours-long lines.So, although what's happening at American airports is certainly a mess, the Trump administration hasn't exactly gone full Project 2025 on the TSA. At least, not yet.
