Northside Methodist Academy could be without a varsity football team next season due to low participation while Emmanuel Christian’s softball team could be non-existent this year due to the same reason.
Programs at Emmanuel Christian School and Northside Methodist Academy are on the brink of collapse, but are there efforts to prevent it from happening? DOTHAN , Ala. - Two schools in Dothan are on the verge of losing one of their athletic teams, now a parent is calling for both the state and administration to stop it.
“It’s hard to compete. We need more students that want to come and participate but I am hopeful that we will build back up in that area” Northside’s Head of School Josh Hulubka and Athletic Director Mike Mordecai said what’s at their current school will just have to be better. Mordecai said the coaches at Northside are great but can always be better to get student-athletes a better chance of winning.
Hulubka said, ”As a school we aim to be competitive. We’re trying to grow the students through discipleship, team building and character. Lots of school go through a dip period but a parent family should have the maturity to want to grow through it.”and receive the latest local news and weather straight to your email every morning.
