❄️ The Met Office has issued warnings for snow and ice across the UK, with more adverse weather on the way for the rest of the week
According to aircraft tracking site Sky Scan World, multiple aircrafts were in holding patterns near London City, Gatwick, and Heathrow airports in London on Wednesday morning, with both Heathrow and Gatwick cancelling or delaying a swathe of arriving flights.
Overnight temperatures plummeted to -14.6C Altnaharra and -15.2C in Kinbrace in the Scottish Highlands, making it the coldest night of the year so far in the UK, while temperatures dropped to -8C in the north of England. The forecasting body’s chief meteorologist, Matthew Lehnert, said: “Snow, ice and low temperatures are the main themes of this week’s forecast, with the UK under an Arctic maritime air mass.”
Dale Hipkiss, national network manager at National Highways, urged people to pack extra provisions in vehicles in case they become stranded.
