Friday will be warm, but frigid temperatures will arrive soon in South Texas. Will the cold weather be accompanied by ice and snow?
Get outside and take advantage of today's beautiful weather, because big changes are on the way. After reaching nearly 70 degrees to close out the work week, an arctic cold front will send temperatures into a free fall this weekend that will linger well into next week. However, the upcoming forecast is quite complex. Forecasters are very confident that freezing temperatures are on the way.
However, much colder air will blow into South Texas late Saturday, plunging temperatures to around 30 degrees overnight and into Sunday morning. Sunday: Initially, the cold front will send very dry air into South Texas, resulting in bright sunshine on Sunday. Temperatures across the region will rise into the mid- to upper 40s, about 15 degrees below average for mid-January.
