Earliest known art on British Isles found in incredible Jersey discovery
The ancient art was made by prehistoric people living as long as 23,000 years ago on modern-day Jersey. The designs were scratched into small ornamental tablets known as plaquettes.Many of the lines, including the curved, concentric designs, appear to have been made through layered or repeated incisionsArchaeologists from the Natural History Museum, the University of Newcastle and University of York then analysed the prehistoric art.
