On-and-off rain and storms are already leaving standing water in some areas, and that will continue Monday and into TuesdayMonday marks 18 years since the disappearance of Brian Shaffer.
On this date back in 2006, the OSU medical student went out with friends to celebrate the start of spring break before he would take off on a trip with his girlfriend.According to a 2016 article, ABC 6 News reported that "the possibility remains he escaped through an unwatched freight elevator, but security cameras from nearby bars would've likely spotted him."
"In the aftermath, tips turned hoaxes including him living or being killed in the Virgin Islands," that 2016 report continued. "There have also been reported sightings of him living as far away as Sweden, which haven't produced anything further than rumor or speculation."Shaffer's girlfriend would call him every night after his disappearance only for it to go straight to his voice mail.
Six months later, it rang and pinged a tower in Hilliard, offering hope that maybe he was still alive somewhere.
