Jillian Berman is the Deputy Enterprise Editor at MarketWatch. She's covered student debt for the site since 2015, when MarketWatch was one of the first national news outlets to hire a reporter dedicated to the topic. She also writes a column called Extra Credit, which explores the news through the lens of debt. From 2019 to 2020, she was a Knight-Bagehot Fellow in Economics and Business Journalism at Columbia University and received her MBA from Columbia Business School in 2021.
She previously worked as an education advisor for The College Planning Center in Boston, where she provided guidance to students and families on how to plan and pay for college. She holds a master’s degree in higher education from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
