Previously, we reported that Apple may be working on a more affordable ‘AirPods Lite’ to compete with budget wireless earbuds and now, more information has come out regarding this development. According to reliable tipster Ming-Chi Kuo, the alleged affordable AirPods will launch alongside a new AirPods Max as early as the second half of 2024.
Taking to his official Twitter account, Kuo claimed that Apple is planning to release the AirPods Lite at a competitive price compared to its current 3rd Generation AirPods. The Apple supply chain analyst touted a price of USD99 or ~RM423 for the earbuds, which is cheaper than the 3rd Generation AirPods, which is priced at RM829 in Malaysia for the lightning charging case variant.
As for the new AirPods Max, Kuo didn’t offer much detail regarding its next-generation iteration other than the expected release date of either the second half of 2024 or early 2025. The information regarding the AirPods Lite is consistent with Haitong Intl Tech Research analyst Jeff Pu’s claim that Apple is seeking to enter the budget earbuds market with a more affordable AirPods Lite.
