The Apple Vision Pro is considered one of the most exciting products of 2024. Initially, it garnered significant interest, but the limited launch and delayed European release led to reconsideration. Despite trying the device upon its availability in the EU, the author found the Apple Account restrictions and the \$3,499 starting price prohibitive.
While acknowledging the spatial computing experience as a crucial element for future AI computing, the author believes Apple needs to integrate Apple Intelligence into the Vision Pro, which might happen soon. With 2024 nearing its end, production of new Vision Pro units may have ceased. Although the spatial computer remains in stock, dwindling supplies are anticipated in the coming months. Apple is unlikely to confirm halted production, but reports suggest a sharp reduction in October. Apple allegedly planned to discontinue the first-generation device by the end of 2024, having scaled back production during the summer. While ensuring sufficient stock until the end of 2025, some suppliers may have stopped producing new components as early as May 2023, potentially providing enough materials for 500,000 to 600,000 Vision Pro units. Luxshare, believed to have assembled about 1,000 headsets per day in October, representing half its peak rate, is likely to keep the assembly lines operational for a potential future surge in sales
