When it comes to the genre, few streaming services have proven themselves to be operating on the same level as Apple TV is these days. Severance, Silo, Foundation, and For All Mankind are just some of the many successful Apple TV sci-fi shows, with the streamer having many more, including spinoffs to some of its hits, already in different stages of development.

That plan includes leaving the streaming service's mark on the history of the Monsterverse, the franchise that has become famous in theaters for its movies featuring Kong, Godzilla, and other kaijus. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 1 explored how the organization that holds all the secrets in the franchise began. Now, season 2 delves deeper into that mythology, doing so with great success. According to FlixPatrol, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is currently the most-watched TV show on Apple TV worldwide. The sci-fi series' surge on the streamer's charts comes after the first episode of Monarch season 2 dropped on the streaming service on February 27. Monarch leaves behind shows like Idris Elba's Hijack, the feel-good comedy Shrinking, sci-fi shows like Pluribus and Severance, and more. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is simply trending in a whopping 102 countries, making it one of the most popular TV shows worldwide at the moment. The Apple TV sci-fi series finds itself as the most-watched show on the streaming service in 79 of those countries. Among those are nations like Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, and many more. One of those is the United States, as Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is currently the most-watched TV show on Apple TV nationwide. The returning sci-fi series stands above popular shows like Ted Lasso and Pluribus. Monarch season 2's boost is similar to that of other Apple releases with new seasons on the list, like Shrinking, The Last Thing He Told Me, Hijack, and Tehran. The Apple TV sci-fi series' streaming success is matched by its positive standing with critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 currently stands at a Certified Fresh 79% critics' score. Viewers have an even higher opinion of the show's return, as Monarch season 2 has an 84% audience score at the time of writing. Given the show's recent return, those numbers should fluctuate. In ScreenRant's Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 review, I gave the show a 9 out of 10 rating, citing how"Titan X's arrival sees past & present collide in Monsterverse-defining story." While season 3 remains unconfirmed at this time, the sci-fi series is getting a spinoff focused on Wyatt Russell's young Lee Shaw. This way, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' future remains safe in some form. 41 8.9/10 Monarch: Legacy of Monsters 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like Follow Followed TV-14 Drama Action Adventure Sci-Fi Release Date November 16, 2023 Network Apple TV Showrunner Chris Black, Matt Fraction Directors Julian Holmes, Matt Shakman, Mairzee Almas, Andy Goddard, Hiromi Kamata Writers Al Letson, Karl Taro Greenfeld, Chris Black, Mariko Tamaki, Amanda Overton, Andrew Colville, Matt Fraction, Milla Bell-Hart Cast See All Franchise Monsterverse, Godzilla, King Kong Creator Matt Fraction, Chris Black Powered by Expand Collapse
