Oakes Fegley in Dark Matter

Every streaming platform has plenty of sci-fi shows, but it’s hard to beat Apple TV’s offering of original sci-fi programming. The streamer got its start with more light-hearted hits like Ted Lasso, starring Jason Sudeikis, but it has since debuted other famous sci-fi shows, including Severance, Invasion, andPluribus.

Severance has aired two successful seasons to date, while Invasion recently concluded with its third and possible final season. Pluribus, which hails from creator Vince Gilligan, defeated Severance to become the most-watched Apple TV sci-fi show in history. Apple released a sci-fi misfire a few years ago with Constellation, which was one of the few showscanceled after one season. This came despite praise from legendary author Stephen King. The show stars Noomi Rapace, the latest actor to join Netflix’s new Assasasin’s Creed series. However, one of the most underrated Apple TV sci-fi shows of all time is Dark Matter, which is based on the popular novel of the same name by author Blake Crouch. Dark Matter stars Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly, and it follows a man who is suddenly upended by an alternate version of himself, who replaces him and leaves him stranded in another dimension. Apple TV renewed Dark Matter for a second season at the end of Season 1, and before the second season returns, the show is back in the Apple TV global top 10 in several countries around the world. Joel Edgerton, who confirmed to Collider last year while promoting his Netflix Western, Train Dreams, that Dark Matter Season 2 would be released on Apple TV sometime this summer. The first images should be coming any day now. What Will ‘Dark Matter’ Season 2 Be About? Plot details about Dark Matter Season 2 are being kept under wraps for now. The first season of the show adapted the entirety of Blake Crouch’s acclaimed sci-fi novel, so Season 2 will head into uncharted territory with an entirely new story that fans are unfamiliar with. Crouch is still the head writer on the show, so where the story is heading in Season 2, fans can rest easy knowing that it’s not only with his blessing, but it’s his idea. Both Edgerton and Connelly will return in Dark Matter Season 2. Check out the first season of Dark Matter on Apple TV and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the show. 7 10 Dark Matter Like Follow Followed TV-MA Drama Science Fiction Thriller Mystery Release Date May 7, 2024 Network Apple TV+ Directors Jakob Verbruggen, Alik Sakharov, Roxann Dawson, Logan George Writers Blake Crouch Cast See All A man is abducted into an alternate version of his life.
