It could also coincide with a later launch in mid- to late-November, which would potentially result in only a handful of laptops being sold in December, with the bulk of retail devices arriving in January 2026.Unlike the first Apple Silicon M series MacBooks, which saw the MacBook Air lead off the new hardware, the M5 series will start with the late-2025 MacBook Pro models. It would not need the significant performance found in the MacBook models using the Pro and Ultra chipset variants. Given the A-Series has proven to be flexible and capable of running desktop-class apps in the iPad family, and offers similar levels of performance in the iPhone, that window is more than suitable for a low-end macOS laptop. The A-series chipsets are locked into a September announcement and release, and that is 100 per cent due to their inclusion in the iPhone. The iPhone is given centre stage during that event. While secondary products are unlikely to arrive at the same time, it is doubtful that a headline-grabbing MacBook would arrive at the same time. Much like the M5-powered MacBook Pro, this new MacBook variant is also scheduled to appear in late 2025 or early 2026.... Far from the 12-month cycle that the iPhone has, the M4 to M5 generation is looking more like an 18-month window to reach the mid-cycle upgrade.
