After picking up the once theatrically bound WWII featureThe streamer has acquired sci-fi moviefrom Amblin Entertainment. The movie was previously set for an August theatrical release via Universal, which had to push the film several times due to pandemic theater closures.
In the film, Hanks stars as a robotics engineer and one of the few survivors of a cataclysmic solar event who wants to ensure his beloved dog, Goodyear, will be cared for after he is gone. He creates a robot to watch over Goodyear when he no longer can, and the trio embarks on a perilous journey into a desolate American West, as Finch hopes to show the robot the joy and wonder of what it means to be alive.from an original screenplay by Craig Luck and Ivor Powell.
