I’ve been writing about technology for two decades and am routinely struck by how the sector swings from startling innovation to persistent repetitiveness. My areas of specialty are wearable tech, cameras, home entertainment and mobile technology.
When a new iPhone is launched, it generally comes with the latest software installed. So, the iPhone 15 series landed with iOS 17 on board.
So, how would Apple overcome this issue, or ensure that every iPhone sold would come with the very latest software? Well, this being Apple, it sounds like they haven’t done anything by halves. If that sounds remarkable, it’s because it is. It seems that Apple is setting up a system for Apple Stores which will allow them to update the software before they are handed over to customers. Here’s how it works. According to Gurman, “The company has developed a proprietary pad-like device that the store can place boxes of iPhones on top of.” That’s pretty amazing and I’ve never heard of any company even contemplating something like this, let alone putting it into action.
