Apple pushes forward with visionOS 26 beta cycle, focusing on spatial features, improved Personas and better reading experience.
Apple is pushing forward with the visionOS 26 beta cycle, releasing beta 5 to developers. While iOS 26 and other operating system updates have made public beta versions available, Apple is continuing to refine visionOS before broad rollout. Notably, Apple is removing the Personas feature from beta, introducing a more expressive and detailed avatar experience. The new Personas boast sharper visuals, a full side profile view, and accurate representations of hair, lashes, and complexions.
Apple is also emphasizing spatial features, blending Virtual and Augmented Reality applications seamlessly.VisionOS 26 beta 5 introduces several new spatial experiences, extending the possibilities for interacting with Apple's Vision Pro. Users can now place widgets in the real world, leaving them persistent even after shutting down the device. These widgets can be customized with various frames, widths, colors, and depths, adding another layer of personalization. Furthermore, generative AI algorithms and computational power combine to create Spatial Scenes, transforming photos into immersive 3D experiences. This enables users to relive cherished memories, particularly with older photos not captured using Live Photos.Apple is also focusing on enhancing the reading experience within Safari in visionOS 26 beta 5. The company is adding native playback support for 180 and 360-degree recordings within news articles, offering a more engaging and interactive way to consume content. Beyond solo experiences, visionOS 26 beta 5 encourages social interaction. Users can watch 3D movies, play games, engage in FaceTime calls, or collaborate on work projects with others nearby who also possess an Apple Vision Pro. This beta update coincides with the release of the fifth beta versions for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26
