The last mambabatok—or traditional Kalinga tattooist, where she taps tools into the skin—is a vision as she proudly the tattoos all over her arms and chest. She is also wearing a woven skirt and beaded jewelry. Whang-Od talked to the magazine about her tattoos for thousands of tourists who travel all the way to Buscalan to get inked.
"When visitors come from far away, I will give them the tatak Buscalan, tatak Kalinga for as long as my eyes can see," Whang-Od told Vogue in the Butbut language. The magazine also featured her tattoos, which range from "from accomplishments to ailments and names of long-gone lovers."
