The Austin Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a 7-year-old child injured in March.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at approximately 6:32 p.m. near the intersection of West Slaughter Lane and Riddle Road.According to the APD Highway Enforcement Investigations unit, the child was riding a bicycle with an adult when a black 2019 Jeep Compass Latitude 4X2 struck them. The driver of the suspect vehicle did not stop to render aid or contact emergency services and fled the scene immediately following the collision.
The suspect driver is described as a Black female in her mid-40s with short hair. The vehicle involved in the incident is a black 2019 Jeep Compass Latitude 4X2. The APD is urging anyone with information about the suspect or the vehicle to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
