The Anchorage Police Department (APD) is increasing patrols after a series of what the department is deeming homicides that took place on Friday.
- Three people died in separate homicides Friday evening in Anchorage , according to police, prompting authorities to increase weekend patrols across the city. Police responded to the first incident at 6:51 p.
m. in the 2000 block of Fiddlehead Place, where they found a woman with trauma to the upper body from an apparent stabbing, according to the department’s press release. Paramedics rushed the woman to the hospital, where she was declared deceased, police said. The second incident occurred at 8:21 p.m. at the intersection of 8th Avenue and Cordova Street, police reported. Officers responded to reports of a shooting and found a man and woman already deceased at the scene, according to the department. The Anchorage Police Department will maintain increased patrols throughout the weekend to enhance public safety and reassure the community, officials announced. “Our top priority is the safety of everyone in Anchorage,” Police Chief Sean Case said in the press release. “We also want our residents, our Alaska Federation of Natives visitors, and those from Western Alaska who are seeking shelter in Anchorage to know that APD is fully engaged and committed to keeping our city safe.” Police have not indicated whether the incidents are connected, according to the press release.
