There aren’t too many surprises in the first poll of the season, with the SEC’s Georgia Bulldogs leading the way followed by the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks of the new-look Big Ten, with SEC newcomer Texas and an Alabama Crimson Tide team entering their first season since 2006 without Nick Saban on the sideline wrapping up the top 5.
The real question will be can the Bulldogs turn down the noise after an offseason filled with off-the-field controversy and keep their dominant game up with crucial tools like their top-tier offensive line and quarterback Carson Beck, who could be looking at making a run at the Heisman this season.
You know Mike Norvell’s boys are incredibly hungry after what they missed out on in 2023. We’d be crazy not to mention the controversy surrounding the then-undefeated Noles not being selected for the College Football Playoff, becoming the first Power Five team to not be selected for the CFP since its inception, with that then leading to multiple opt-outs and transfers that played a factor in the 63-3 blowout loss to Georgia in the Orange Bowl.
