ANCHORAGE , Alaska - Eight years after his last medal, Palmer ’s Andrew Kurka snagged bronze at the super-G ski event at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games. The third-place finish ended a drought stretching back to the 2018 games in Pyeongchang, which featured gold and silver finishes for the Alaska n.
These were his third Paralympic Winter Games. Kurka went medal-less in Beijing in 2022 thanks in part to a broken arm suffered during a downhill race. He still somehow finished in fourth. “It was just a crazy roller-coaster of emotions,” Kurka said. “Especially coming into this race, I was so determined and I had built up in my soul and in my spirit. “I just wanted to prove to myself that I had what it took to make up for Beijing,” he continued. “I hated the fourth place.” Sure enough, Kurka completed his medal collection with a super-G time that was good for third in the field. “It was a goal of mine to get another one,” he said. “And the fact that I have a gold, silver and bronze sitting at home is going to be pretty cool.”2026 Iditarod Live BlogLast-minute prep wrapping up in White Mountain ahead of first Iditarod musher’s arrival
