The congresswoman was at the town hall when a man carrying a couple of small American flags walked toward the front of the room and began shouting,"American citizens before migrants." The man was eventually escorted out while being booed by others in the audience, according to footage posted to social media by Freedom News TV."Where are you on the migrant issue?" The New York congresswoman's town hall comes two weeks after the Southern border policy Title 42 ended, and it comes amid the impending debt ceiling limit deadline set for June 5. The state of New York has had to deal with immigrants sent from Texas for several months now.In response to the immigrants New York has had to deal with, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has called for migrants to be sent to every city in the country so that the border crisis is"not a burden on one city.
On Friday, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen shifted the debt ceiling deadline from June 1 to June 5, giving House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and the White House a few extra days to deal with the situation. The two sides have yet to reach an agreement, though one of McCarthy's deputies, Rep. Patrick McHenry , told reporters Friday that talks are delicate but making progress.
