Tenants in a beachside Sydney suburb are taking their case to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal after their rent went up by 70 per cent. 9News

The old building with nine apartments is in a prime location overlooking the ocean at Tamarama inHarrison Reid says he received a rent increase from $670 a week to $1100 two weeks ago.Tenants of this unit block in Sydney's Tamarama have been hit with 70 per cent rent increase.Reid said the increase did not include the repairs of things like broken concrete on the outside, broken kitchen shelves and black mould.

Cohen said in a statement his role was to advise the landlord on whether or not he was receiving rent in line with current market conditions.
