Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa finalized his divorce from Patricia Villaraigosa, retaining assets like a Volvo, Beverly Hills home, and Netflix account. The settlement includes a financial agreement and the relinquishment of the Villaraigosa name by Patricia.

Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa secured a favorable divorce settlement, ending his seven-year marriage to Patricia Villaraigosa. The 72-year-old politician will retain a number of assets, including a 2024 Volvo XC60, his Beverly Hills home, bank accounts, his pension, and access to all streaming services, notably his Netflix account. The settlement, finalized in L.A.

County Superior Court, also stipulates that Patricia Villaraigosa will relinquish the Villaraigosa surname and revert to her maiden name, Govea. She will be responsible for updating her information with relevant agencies and is barred from using the Villaraigosa name for personal, marketing, or business purposes. Patricia Villaraigosa, 52, will receive a lump sum payment of $500,000 in lieu of spousal support and $100,000 to cover legal and accounting fees. She is also allowed to keep two properties in Mexico and a 2016 Range Rover, along with all furniture, artwork, and jewelry in her possession. The terms of the settlement were first reported by In Touch Weekly and filed in court on Monday.Villaraigosa's latest divorce comes as he prepares to launch his second bid for the California governorship in 2024. In a previous attempt in 2018, he finished third in the race behind Gavin Newsom and John Cox. Prior to entering politics, Villaraigosa had a diverse career working as a consultant for various businesses, including Herbalife, Banc of California, Cadiz, Edelman, and AltaMed. He also began teaching at the USC Price School of Public Policy after leaving City Hall in 2013. Villaraigosa's history with name changes is notable. He adopted the name Antonio Villaraigosa in 1987 when he married Corina Raigosa, merging their surnames. The couple divorced in 2007, and he later married Patricia Govea in 2016, taking her surname. After filing for divorce in 2022, the case was dismissed the following year. He refiled in January 2024 and requested that neither party receive spousal support. A spokesperson for Villaraigosa declined to comment on the divorce agreement.
