A motive behind a double homicide at an Antioch bowling alley was announced Thursday afternoon.

Police said the shooting that killed 34-year-old Antonio Drake and 35-year-old D'eantray Reed the night of Dec. 7 at the Delta Bowl parking lot was the result of an attempted robbery, and that the men did not know each other. Police said that minutes before 11 p.m. that night, Reed approached Drake, who was sitting in his car preparing to drive away, and tried to rob him. Police said the two shot each other.

An employee told KTVU shortly after the shooting that Reed and Drake did not interact with each other inside the venue and that they both were customers. At the time, he expressed frustration about people "bringing their craziness" to a place meant for kids and families. Both guns used by Reed and Drake were recovered by police. Police said at this time, there are no additional suspects wanted in connection with the shooting and called the incident isolated.
