“Those numbers set an extremely high bar,” said Rubinstein. “We’re very proud of what the track and the Del Mar family accomplished last year, in 2021 and during the pandemic season of 2020 when we raced without spectators. “And Del Mar has put out a very good product over the years. From an on-track experience, Del Mar is appealing if even if you’re not a horse racing fan.”It was during the pandemic that many people took note of Del Mar. With many sporting events canceled or awaiting the opening of delayed seasons, races from Del Mar were televised nationally during primetime hours in the east. Viewers restricted to their living rooms enjoyed the Pacific Ocean vistas just beyond Del Mar’s far turn.
