Anti-terror cops investigating after worshipper set alight walking home from Birmingham mosque just weeks after nearly identical attack in London
West Midlands Police have announced that they have arrested the man on suspicion of attempted murder today ahead of a press conference later.
The victim was approached by a suspect while leaving the West London Islamic Centre. They spoke for about five minutes before the suspect doused his victim with the flammable liquid before setting him on fire and walking off. West Midlands police said in a statement after last night's incident: "We're investigating after a man was set alight on Brixham Road in Edgbaston, Birmingham, just after 7pm."He spoke to him briefly before spraying him with an unknown substance and then his jacket was set alight, causing burns to his face.
"By the time we came outside to look. it was all put out. And then yeah we heard through the Fire Brigade and the police that someone had been set alight.
