The Man United striker finds himself down the pecking order following Rasmus Hojlund's arrival at the Premier League outfit
Now 27, Anthony Martial finds himself currently with a year left on his contract and seemingly not in a starting position for the centre-forward or wide positions.
A loan move to Sevilla in the 2021/22 season failed to see Martial provide a spark for his career, playing 12 games in all competitions for the Spanish club and getting just a lone goal and assist during his time in Spain. There was early promise for Martial, whose first season at the club was his second-best for United in terms of league goals, and just one of three seasons in which he has hit a double-digit goal tally in the Premier League.
Having won the famous trophy three times, the Reds have a wonderful history in the European Cup. Now the Dutchman has to live up to that legacy. Now, Hojlund appears to be a shoe-in for United’s starting centre-forward spot so it is hard to see where Martial would fit in the side, and especially hard to see United triggering the extension of his contract.
