Malaysian online platform BJAK Sdn Bhd has become the subject of scrutiny this past week. This is after the Road Transport Department revealed that the company was never authorised by JPJ or the Transport Ministry to offer road tax renewal services, to which BJAK responded by clarifying that the service is only optional and now, free of charge.
Now, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook has also addressed the matter, saying that he is open to the company becoming JPJ’s strategic partner. However, the online platform must go through proper channels in doing so.Loke elaborated that BJAK and other 3rd party platforms must officially apply to become JPJ’s strategic partner.
Loke added that JPJ issued the statement calling out BJAK because the latter’s sales campaign was aggressive. Accordingly, he felt that if no action were taken, the public would be misled by the company’s advertisements. BJAK has since shared Loke’s statement on its social media but didn’t mention whether it will apply to become JPJ’s strategic partner.
