The NBA is still reeling from the shockwaves of the Luka Doncic - Anthony Davis trade that went down Saturday night. Anthony Edwards , star player for the Minnesota Timberwolves , expressed his concern and disbelief over the move, stating that he feels bad for Doncic and is even scared for his own future in the league. 'They say nobody knew about the trade,' Edwards said after his team's loss to the Sacramento Kings on Monday.
'At 25, they traded probably the best scorer in the NBA at 25, and he didn't know about it. So there's a lot more digging somebody's gotta do to find out why he got traded. Because you don't just trade him at 25. He just went to the Finals. I feel bad for Luka, man, because I saw on YouTube he just bought a crib and everything in Dallas.' Edwards continued, expressing his fear of being traded himself and directly addressing Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor, saying, 'I'm scared. Tim, if you're gonna trade me, let me know, dawg. If Luka gets traded, anybody is able to get traded.'Luka Doncic's father, Saša Dončić, a former professional player and head coach in Slovenia, also criticized the Mavericks' handling of the trade, calling out their 'hypocrisy' and stating that Doncic 'absolutely doesn't deserve this.' 'I understand there comes a moment when you disagree with a certain philosophy—you don’t like this or that player, all good, get it,' Saša Dončić said. 'But I think that exactly this secrecy, or should I say from some individuals, maybe even hypocrisy, this hurts me personally. Because I think that Luka absolutely doesn’t deserve this.' 'It’s crazy,' he said. 'It’s crazy… I would have never thought Luka Doncic would get traded at this age, mid-season… The NBA is a wild place, man. If he can get traded then anybody’s up for grabs. For the fans, for somebody spectating it’s pretty fun. I know it’s kind of nerve-wracking though, probably for Luka, everybody in Dallas, LA, AD… For everybody involved, I’m sure their heads are spinning right now.'Doncic, who has been sidelined since Christmas Day due to a calf strain, is expected to be introduced to the Lakers at a press conference Tuesday at noon Eastern and is likely to make his debut with the team sometime before the NBA All-Star break.
