A contract between health insurer Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) may expire without renewal in the new year. Anthem BCBS, one of the nation's largest health insurers, has an agreement with MSK, one of the country's top cancer hospitals, set to expire on January 1, 2025. Both parties have stated that negotiations are ongoing.
MSK has expressed its concern that Anthem is not making adequate efforts to reach a fair agreement, while Anthem maintains optimism about reaching a deal. If the agreement expires, New York State's 'cooling off period' will allow patients to receive care at in-network rates until March 1, 2025. Patients who are no longer in active treatment are still eligible for in-network follow-up care at MSK until April 1, 2025
