For the emergency services, it remains one of the busiest and most dangerous nights of the year
It was yet another year of bonfire night carnage on the streets of Greater Manchester. After over 200 callouts in 2022, a stark warning was issued once again by the fire service ahead of this year's events.
Tactical Aid Unit officers from Greater Manchester Police descended on a bonfire in the Abbey Hey area on Sunday evening. They were met with 'around 30 people' and reportedly attacked, with fireworks being launched directly at them in the process. The fire service posted on social media: "Sadly, we’ve just been dealing with a fire involving multiple wheelie bins and timber in Little Lever, and our crew has come under attack from people throwing bricks. This is bang out of order – our staff work tirelessly to protect others, they do not come to work to be attacked."
