A victim of a long-haul trucker who took at least eight women's lives across America in the 1990s has been identified, authorities say. Suzanne Kjellenberg was strangled and left by Interstate 10 in Florida in Sept. 1994 by serial killer Keith Hunter Jesperson — also known as the 'Happy Face Killer' due to his tendency to sign letters to the media with smiley faces. She was 34 at the time of her death.
The killing of Kjellenberg a year later involved strangulation using zip ties in the bed of his truck, Jesperson reportedly told investigators in a recent prison interview. 'He talked openly about the murder and how it took place,' Aden said. Like with the Skiple case, the identification of Kjellenberg this year came through the use of genealogy and DNA analysis. 'A family member gave a sample, and it became a 100% DNA hit for Suzanne Kjellenberg,' Aden said.
