Ken Mueller, the director of student services, also retired in lieu of being suspended as the district reviewed how and why it had hired a former Texas Department of Public Safety trooper whose performance at Robb Elementary on May 24 was under investigation by the state agency. The districtas placed Mueller and police Lt. Miguel Hernandez on paid leave.
Michael Rodriguez, the district’s assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, also retired in late August, according to the Uvalde Leader-News, which alsoReavis graduated from the district in 1982 and became a teacher in 1993.
“I think, honestly, it’s like anything else, like that figure of speech, ‘There’s a new sheriff in town,’” said Jesse Rizo, referring to the incoming interim superintendent.
